Authorship and Contributorship Policy
Authorship and Contributorship Policy
The Journal of Engineering Science and Technology Management (JES-TM) is committed to maintaining transparency, accountability, and integrity in scholarly publishing. The journal adopts the authorship criteria recommended by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and follows the ethical guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Authorship Criteria
Authorship should reflect substantial intellectual contributions to the research and manuscript. All individuals listed as authors must meet the following criteria:
- Have made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the study, or to the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of research data.
- Have participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
- Have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript for publication.
- Have agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that concerns regarding its accuracy or integrity are appropriately investigated and resolved.
These criteria apply to all research published in JES-TM, including experimental, computational, theoretical, and applied studies in engineering, science, technology, management, and related disciplines.
Individuals who contribute to the research but do not meet all authorship criteria, such as those providing technical assistance, routine data collection, language editing, administrative support, general supervision, or funding acquisition, should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section with their permission.
Author Contributions
JES-TM encourages authors to provide an Author Contributions Statement describing each author's role in the research and manuscript preparation.
The journal recommends using the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT), which includes contributions such as conceptualization, methodology, software, validation, formal analysis, investigation, resources, data curation, writing, visualization, supervision, project administration, and funding acquisition.
All authors must agree on their respective contributions before manuscript submission. A contribution listed under CRediT does not automatically establish eligibility for authorship.
Corresponding Author Responsibilities
The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the JES-TM editorial office throughout the submission, peer-review, and publication processes.
The corresponding author must ensure that all listed authors have made qualifying contributions, approved the submitted and final versions of the manuscript, agreed to the authorship order, and accepted responsibility for the integrity of the research.
The corresponding author is also responsible for communicating editorial decisions and revision requests to all co-authors.
Changes in Authorship
Any addition, removal, or rearrangement of authors after manuscript submission must be requested by the corresponding author.
The request must include a written justification and documented agreement from all affected authors, including those being added or removed.
Changes in authorship after manuscript acceptance will only be considered under exceptional circumstances and require approval from the Editor-in-Chief.
Authorship disputes must be resolved by the authors and, where necessary, their affiliated institutions. The editorial board may request supporting documentation and follow COPE guidance when evaluating authorship concerns.
Gift, Guest, and Ghost Authorship
JES-TM does not permit gift, guest, or ghost authorship.
Gift or guest authorship occurs when individuals are listed as authors despite not meeting the established authorship criteria. Ghost authorship occurs when individuals who qualify for authorship are omitted from the author list.
Authorship based solely on academic position, institutional authority, personal relationships, general supervision, or financial support is not acceptable.
Suspected authorship misconduct will be evaluated by the editorial board in accordance with COPE guidance. Depending on the circumstances, appropriate actions may include requesting clarification, correcting the published record, contacting affiliated institutions, or retracting an article when warranted.
